Our Alpha Litter is growing very fast. Momma Dobie started getting up on them as early as day 15 but we really forced her to feed the pups. They are getting mobile and noisy now as well, so I guess Momma just want to have some alone time and de-stress herself.
So today, we finally started weaning the puppies. There are a lot of puppy gruel recipes online, but we decided to make our own formula.
First off, we started feeding Momma Dobie Anmum Materna plain flavor since she gave birth and these two supplements given by our Vet – Enmalac and Nutrical. So far, her milk supply is very good.
We tried preparing milk supplement alone, but the puppies don’t seem to like it. So we have to improvise.
We cut up a fresh Moringga branch on our backyard and boil it. We boiled a lot since the rest of the soup and the leaves we gave it to Momma Dobie. Don’t worry about those white stuff floating; those are very tiny bubbles from the water starting to boil.
In a big bowl, we pour in 1/3 to 1/2 packet of the Cerelac Infant Brown Rice & Milk flavor. We chose this flavor because we plan on adding Brown Rice on their diet once they’re old enough to eat solid foods. We didn’t anticipated how fast they ate what I prepared so we probably have to get a bigger box or a can.
We added the milk replacement to the bowl. My husband bought this back then when they are still 3 days old. We thought we have to help Momma Dobie nursing the puppies and bottlefeed some of them. So we never really used them until today and was kept on the fridge the whole time.
The Milk we have above has egg yolk included in it, but we still want to include 1 fresh yolk. The whites and the crushed egg shell we gave it to Momma Dobie.
Lastly, we added 1 capsule of Activated Charcoal. Their poopsicles started to smell, so it’s best to introduce this to them very early and gradually. It will also help them lessen stomach gas and flatulence, thus I don’t have to worry about colic issues or gruel mixed too bubbly.
After the meal, everybody went to sleep and Mommie Dobie finally got a rest of her little minions sucking her teats and pushing her belly with sharp claws.
I don’t know if you are aware of this video or not. This is not made-up, but is backed by scientists and food experts whose reputation does not come with price tags.
Did you even wonder why Aspins who are eating leftovers from their humans live longer and doesn’t get sick as much as often than those who are fed and spoiled with dog food?
Dogs are from genus Canine. Their original ancestors are wolves and hounds and coyotes, who often hunts for food. Hundreds of years ago, Canines existed and survived and lived WITHOUT these dog food.
There are a lot of contradicting articles in the internet, both with credentials and those that are not, debating over foods that are allowed and not allowed for dogs. Some people who are very vulnerable to advertisements are the ones that easily fall on these traps. Big dog food products and the companies making them tell lies ALL THE TIME and SPREAD RUMOURS in order to inflate their sales and profits. Majority of the Vets are paid to endorse their products without really knowing what their food is REALLY made off.
Not us!
When our Momma Dobie developed a gulf ball size bump that grows within few days after eating straight dog food on her diet, we stop feeding her immediately. We didn’t put her under surgery, but instead we observed her withdrawal of kibbles, which she gladly consented.
After a few days, the bump subsides until it was gone. The only changes we made is her dog food withdrawal.
For me, dog food are just for the convenience of lazy people who can’t make time to home cook the meals of their dogs. But I can’t blame them; majority of them don’t even home cook meals for their family and simply resort to fast foods.
I’m not poopooing those who are still feeding their dogs with commercial dog food. Some of them didn’t know about this stuff. But for those who are into healthy living and natural/organic products and yet still relying on these commercialized dog foods, what more can I say? After all, it’s your dog and it’s your money. But as for us, our Dobermans are like our children. We want the best for them and less visits to the Vets. All those people who are blaming their genetics, coat colors, DNA, lineage, inbreeding, or even their chosen reputable breeder, for health issues and longevity, perhaps it’s not about those, perhaps it’s about the food.
As for our Momma’s diet, let’s leave that in another post.
